Smoke Ventilation

ADS supplied, installed and commissioned a mechanical smoke ventilation system to the recently refurbished historic pier in Cleethorpes.

Our system comprises of large smoke rated extract fans that ventilate the main 'ballroom' and local mechanical smoke ventilation to the restaurant / terrace area. The barrel vault of the roof provides a smoke reservoir that has a ducted system of extract dampers and grilles to extract smoke to the external facade on the rear of the building. 

Inlet air is provided from specially ducted routes from beneath the pier that enter the building under the stage area via chain actuators and dampers. Our system is backed up via a dedicated UPS system to provide 1 hour of back up three phase power in the event of a mains power failure. 

Cleethorpes pier presented a very difficult scheme to find a smoke ventilation solution. But though innovative thinking and good project management ADS delivered a successful installation to our client.
