Smoke Ventilation

ADS provided a mechanical smoke ventilation solution for the new hangar facility at RAF Lossiemouth.

From Robertson Construction...

The £100 million development for Boeing will be home to the new fleet of Poseidon MRA Mk1 which is set to boost the UK’s maritime patrol capability.

The 33,000 m2 strategic facility – part of an extensive upgrade at RAF Lossiemouth to futureproof the airbase – includes a three-bay aircraft hangar for the Poseidon, crew and maintainer training facilities, flight planning facilities and workshop areas for up to 600 personnel, and squadron accommodation.

ADS provided a CFD Analysis to prove our design. We then provided our EN.12101-3 tested and certified smoke extract fans provide the required 15m3/s ventilation rate. The system was controlled by our three phase control system that was linked to the fire alarm system to automatically operate our system.
