Smoke Ventilation

ADS were appointed to deliver the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the smoke ventilation systems at Brunel House in Bristol.

The property was extended to the rear of the building's historic facade in the 1980's to house office space. Unite have since purchased the building to transform it into Student Accommodation.

ADS used existing lift shafts and newly constructed smoke shafts, to naturally ventilate four of the buildings staircores and lobbies. We also provided a mechanical smoke shaft solution to a staircore that could not accommodate a natural solution. We provided all of the natural and powered smoke ventilators along with the control systems and field wiring. An uniterruped power supply (UPS) was also provided to power the mechical system due to the existing power supply not being able to accommodate the extra loads.
